Cyclades

The island complex of the Cyclades is the quintessential expression of Greek summer. A number of 220 islands, most of them uninhabited, forming a circle (“kyklos” in Greek, hence the name Cyclades) around the sacred island of Delos, southeast of the mainland. Their rugged landscape with scattered white washed churches with blue domes and little white houses hide unbelievable beaches, translucent blue waters, rich history and this famous light, that has captured the heart of so many painters and photographers.

Mykonos and Santorini are the most famous ones, but in reality there is so much more to see. The short distances between the islands make it so easy to experience the best of Cyclades; from the cosmopolitan spirit of Mykonos and the volcanic beauty of Milos, to the intense tranquillity of Sifnos, the aristocratic elegance of Syros, the wild beauty of Amorgos or the unspoiled paradise of the Small Cyclades.

Dodecanese

Dodecanese (as witnessed by its name – “dodeka” is twelve in Greek) is a complex of twelve islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea of unparalleled beauty and history. On every island you see the influence of so many and different peoples and culture: Ionians, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans and Italians. The result is a very unique character for each island; when coupled with the stunningly beautiful nature and the endless beaches, the attraction is irresistible.

Rhodes and Kos are the most famous ones welcoming thousands of guests every year that come to enjoy the sandy beaches, the wild nightlife and the well preserved old towns with the essence of knights history still in the air. But there is so much more to explore in this blessed part of the world, one of the most beautiful in Greece. Walking on the volcano crater in Nisyros, admiring the architecture in Symi, discovering the rugged beauty of Karpathos, enjoying the view from the windmills of Astypalaia, making a pilgrimage to the holy island of Patmos or rock climbing in Kalymnos are experiences that will enrich your vacation to a point you would never imagine!

Sporades

Sporades islands are scattered in northwestern Aegean. This complex of islands includes 24 islands of which four are inhabited. Dense greenery, rocky landscapes and pure waters are the ingredients of this beautiful part of Greece.

Skiathos is the most well known of the four islands. Cosmopolitan and vivid, Skiathos will charm you with its sandy beaches and striking beauty.

Skopelos is the ideal place to be if you are on holidays with your family. Tranquillity and harmony are the island’s unique traits. If some places look familiar, don’t be surprised! The “Mamma mia” movie was filmed here and yes, the chapel on the rock exists!

Alonissos is the most alternative destination with its unspoilt nature, beaches for every taste and long hiking trails that invite you to explore it on foot. The island is home to the Mediterranean Monk Seal (monachus monachus) and a visit to the National Marine Park is definitely worthwhile!

Skyros, the largest of the Sporades, combines lush pine forests with wild rocky landscapes. The Lilliputian ponies – a local breed, the abundance of lobsters, a galore of sea caves and the rich local culture will definitely thrill you.

Saronic Gulf

One of the most beautiful parts of Greece is just a stone’s throw away from Athens. The Argosaronic Gulf is home to beautiful islands scattered along the coast of Attica and the Peloponnese.

The scent of thyme and pine will greet you first as you approach Aegina, your first stop and closest to Athens. Take a stroll at the port town, visit the ancient temple of Aphaia and swim in one of the long sandy beaches.

Almost attached to the mainland is Poros, with lavish greenery and clear blue waters. The port town with the early 19th century houses is incredibly charming.

Hydra has a unique charm with its grand mansions and 18th-century captains’ homes, a testimony to its rich naval history. This small, rocky and arid island has a special allure that has mesmerised intellectuals and international jet setters alike.

Spetses has traditionally been a destination for high society. The elegant town and the picturesque beaches make up a hard to resist combination.

If you are in no pressure, cruise down the Peloponnese coast to the island of Kythira, Once a Venetian stronghold and later a pirates’ base.

Ionian Islands

Scattered along the western coastline of Greece, the lavishly verdant Ionian Islands have a very unique character brought on by the passing of the Venetians, French and British. Covered by pine forests, olive groves and vineyards these islands are a paradise on earth with their white sand beaches and emerald waters.

World-renowned Corfu has been a favourite holiday destination for centuries and for a good reason. Medieval castles, palaces, rich culture, breath-taking landscapes and endless beaches will capture your heart and imagination.

Lefkada will excite you with the award winning, stunning beaches. Kefalonia will charm you with the lovely villages and the million years old caves. Paxi and Antipaxi are a dream come true on earth with the sapphire waters. You should not miss Ithaca, home to Homer’s Odysseus, with its tranquil villages. Zakynthos became famous for its “shipwreck” beach but is also home to Greece’s first marine park. Every spring the rare caretta caretta sea turtles, an endangered species, lay their eggs in the sandy beaches of Zakynthos.
